Nine days off does not appear to have slowed down the 2nd Region’s top-ranked volleyball team. The Lady Blazers took to the court for the first time since the 2nd Region All A Classic on August 26 and rolled to a straight-set road win over defending 2nd Region champion Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The Lady Blazers owned the opening set, rolling to a 25-12 win to go up one set to none. The Lady Maroons pushed UHA a bit harder in the second set, but it was still the Lady Blazers coming out on top 25-20 to take a two-set-to-none lead in the match.
University Heights did not allow the Maroons a chance to think they could work their way back into the match as the Lady Blazers took the third set 25-16 to complete the sweep.

It was the first win over the Lady Maroons for the Lady Blazers since the 2019 2nd Region tournament.
Julia Thomas and Chayse Gilliland had big nights for UHA at the net, finishing with 9 kills each. Sarah Peebles finished the match with 23 assists. Olivia Oakley added 10 digs for the Lady Blazers.
The win was the 10th straight for University Heights. During that 10-match run, the Lady Blazers have not dropped a single set. In fact, for the season, UHA has dropped only three sets, with all three coming in the Apollo Summer Slam.
The Lady Blazers are now 13-1 on the year and get ready to host Todd County Central Thursday evening in Blazer Gym.
