2023 has been a season of change for Landon Hunt.
As a freshman, he won the region golf title while at Christian County, capping a season that saw him earn All-Region honors for the second straight year.
But over the summer, his father Josh was named the superintendent of the McCracken County School District. That meant a family move to Paducah for not only Landon, but his little sister Harper who was set to begin her first season on the varsity team.
Landon had a strong showing at the Kentucky Junior Amateur over the summer and got off to a fast start at his new school.
Hunt won back-to-back weeks at Hopkinsville and Ballard Memorial and has second-place finishes at Henderson County and Paducah Tilghman.
Heading into the weekend, Hunt ranks ninth in the state in All-State points despite playing in just eight All-State points-eligible events.
Now in Region 1, Hunt has a chance to do something that hasn’t been accomplished in western Kentucky — win region titles in both the First and Second Region. He will get his first shot at achieving the feat on September 19 when Drake Creek Golf Course hosts the region tournament.
