If it had not been for the John Hardin Lady Bulldogs, Saturday would have been a perfect day for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels volleyball team. The Lady Rebels lost to John Hardin in pool play and then lost to them again in the championship match of the Adair County Classic at Lindsey Wilson College.
The Lady Rebels began their day with a straight-set win over Foundation Christian Academy 25-19 and 25-14. Alyssa Wofford had 8 kills while Chloe Willis had 11 assists.
Up next was a match against Casey County. Once again, it was a straight-set win for Todd County Central, this time by scores of 25-20 and 25-7. Alyssa Wofford led the attack with seven kills and Chloe Willis added 11 more assists.
In their final match of pool play, the Lady Rebels would hook up with John Hardin for the first time of the day. Todd Central took the first set 25-23, but John Hardin rallied to take the next two sets 25-13 and 15-7. Alyssa Wofford finished with five kills while Chloe Willis had 11 more assists.
In the gold bracket semifinals, the Lady Rebels faced off against host Adair County. Todd County Central took down the Lady Indians in straight sets 25-20 and 25-17. Alyssa Wofford, Callie Chapman, and Lynnlee Jones combined for 20 kills in the match. Shelby Holderman and Chloe Willis had eight assists each.
That set up the return match against John Hardin in the gold bracket championship game. Again, it was a three-set battle. The Lady Bulldogs took the opening set handily 25-9. The Lady Rebels battled back to roll through the second 25-14. The deciding set came down to the very last point. With the set tied at 16-16, by tournament rule, the next point would decide the win, and disappointingly for the Lady Rebels, it was John Hardin that scored the point to take the title.
Lynnlee Jones had five kills in the title match. Chloe Willis added 8 assists.
The Lady Rebels now stand at 7-9 on the year.
