Travis Perry shaved one shot off his All A Classic State Golf Tournament round from last year and improved two spots to finish tied for 14th place at Saturday’s state event at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.

Perry’s front nine saw him birdie the first hole and eagle the par-5 seventh hole.

His back nine was better with a birdie on the 11th hole and an eagle-2 on the 18th hole to finish a 1-under for the back nine.

Perry finished eight shots behind the winner, Hancock County’s Dec Lewko, whose round of 68 included five birdies and only one bogey.

Perry shot a 5-over-77 on the same course last year to finish tied for 16th place.

It was a good day for the Perry siblings as younger sister Lilly finished tied for 15th place at the All A girls’ state tournament across town at Arlington Golf Club.

Perry was the region runner-up but shot the lowest score from both regions one and two on Saturday.
