The Hopkinsville Tigers used a balanced offensive attack to put an end to a five-match losing streak Monday night. Coming off a brutal stretch of their schedule the Tigers had things going their way in a 6-0 win over the Trigg County Wildcats.

Hopkinsville had run a gauntlet of matches against Henderson County, Elizabethtown, George Rogers Clark, Paducah Tilghman, and Bowling Green over the past 12 days.

The Tigers controlled the flow most of the night Monday, pushing the attack forward against the Wildcats.

Hoptown got on the board just 5:20 into the match when Kyler Delvecchio put a shot into the lower left corner of the goal to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The score stayed that way until the final two minutes of the half when Thieng Nguyen had three shots deflected before finally getting the ball past the defender and the Trigg goalie to make it 2-0.

The second half did not start off much better for Trigg County. Hoptown’s Nick Klar took a shot off the right side that deflected off a Trigg defender into the net for an own goal extending the Hopkinsville lead to 3-0.

Alex Rameirez took a left-footed shot and scored it across the front of the net into the right-hand side at 55:30 and it was 4-0. Six minutes later, Anthony Evangelista made it 5-0.

Nick Klar would finish the scoring for the night when he launched a rocket from the right side that shot off the left post into the back of the net.

Hopkinsville finished the night out-shooting the Wildcats 28-5.

The Tigers got big defensive play from George Baker, David Lopez, and Haydon Cowherd.

With the win, Hopkinsville improves to 3-8 on the year, while Trigg County drops to 1-5-1.
