It took a while for Haydon Reynolds to get going at the Class 2A State Golf Championships Monday, but the Trigg County junior finished strong and brought home a top-ten finish.
Reynolds shot a 4-over-par 76 to finish in a 10th-place tie, 10 shots behind the winner Brady Smith of Christian Academy-Louisville (-6).
Reynolds began his day at the Owensboro Country Club on the 10th hole and bogeyed five of his first nine holes.
A birdie on the par-5 first hole jumpstarted his final nine holes. After a bogey on No. 2, Reynolds made par six of the final seven holes with a birdie on No. 6 thrown in. He shot a 1-under 35 for the front nine.
He now gets ready for the Region 1 Golf Tournament next Tuesday at Drake Creek Golf Course.
