The Christian County Colonels had their best performance against Henderson County in more than ten years Tuesday night. Still, the Colonels came up just a bit short, falling to Henderson 3-0 at the Stadium of Champions.
The three goals were the least the Colonels have given up to a Henderson County team in more than a decade. Henderson’s defense would turn out to be the difference in this match, as the northern Colonels limited Christian County to just five shots on goal.
The match was just 1-0 at the break. Henderson added some breathing room with goals at 45:51 and 50:36 to push the margin out to 3-0. The two teams held each other scoreless over the final 29+ minutes of the contest.
Senior Jack Gentry scored twice for Henderson County. Elliot Pryor added the other goal for Henderson.
The loss drops Christian County to 4-4 on the season. The Colonels return to the pitch Thursday evening when they host University Heights Academy.
