Christian County scored three times in the first 8 minutes — and made those goals stand up in a 3-2 boys’ soccer victory over Webster County Monday night at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.
The visiting Trojans outshot the Colonels 24-11 in the contest, and got as close as one goal early in the second half, but could never overcome the early deficit.
Bryan Linares got Christian (5-5) on the scoreboard before the game was even 2 minutes old. Linares blasted home a shot from 25 yards out on a loose ball in the middle of the field.
The Colonels made it 2-0 in the 7th minute when Noah Davis sent the ball from the corner to Christian Lopez in the middle. Lopez finished to quickly give the Colonels a two-goal lead.
Leland Creamer then put Christian up 3-0 in the 8th minute, punching in a loose ball into an open net after the ball was mishandled by the Trojans.

Webster (9-7-1) got its first goal moments later, scoring the fourth goal of the game in the 10th minute.
Brian Alfaro scored on a blast from inside the box from the right side to make it a 3-1 game.
That proved to be the final goal of the first half as Christian took that 3-1 advantage to halftime.
But Webster tried to grab the momentum early in the second half.
Alfaro scored again, this time on a header following a free kick from Andres Juan. That came in the 47th minute and tightened things up, trimming the Christian lead to 3-2.
Webster had some near-misses as it attempted several times to knot the match, but ultimately the Colonels held on for the win.

Mason Malone recorded nine saves in the Christian net.
Harrison Warren made five stops for Webster.
The Colonels will be back in action again on Tuesday, facing Hopkinsville.
