Travis Perry Ties for 2nd at Regional (w/PHOTOS)

Lyon County senior Travis Perry tied for second, just one shot behind the winner, in Tuesday’s 1st Region golf tournament at Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter.

Marshall County’s D.J. Morris was medalist with a 1-under-par 71 while Perry and McCracken County’s Landon Hunt each carded even-par rounds of 72.

Perry, the state’s all-time leading scorer on the basketball court, was at 2-under through 15 holes, but bogeyed Nos. 16 and 17 to fall back to even.

Marshall’s Ryan Stokes was fourth at 73.

Aiden Hahn of Paducah St. Mary and Jeremiah Foster of Crittenden County tied for fifth with 74s.

Perry is the only Lyon to qualify for next Tuesday’s State First Round tournament at Calvert City Country Club.

Brady Shoulders shot an 87, Grant Wiggins 96, Jack Reddick 98 and Cooper Collins 101 for the Lyons.

An 81 was the highest score to advance to the State First Round.

Lyon had a team score of 353.

McCracken County won the team championship with a 311. Marshall County was runner-up at 315.

The State Final Rounds will be Oct. 6-7 at Bowling Green Country Club.
