Lady Marshals Roll to 7th Straight Regional Championship

Make it seven straight 1st Region golf championships for Marshall County’s girls, who blitzed the competition Wednesday at Paxton Park Golf Course in Paducah.

The Lady Marshals shot a team total of 310 to claim the 2023 regional championship by 57 strokes.

Mayfield was runner-up at 367, edging McCracken County, which placed third with a 369.

Defending regional and state individual champion Trinity Beth led Marshall with a 3-over-par round of 74, but placed second to McCracken County’s Sophie Hollowell, who claimed medalist honors with a 2-under 69.

Marshall had four of the top eight golfers in the regional tournament.

Skylar Waller was fourth with a 77, CeCelia Ray tied for sixth with a 79 and Brooklyn Cunningham was eighth with an 80.

Katie Roberts was right behind that group with an 81.

Marshall’s entire team advances to Monday’s State First Round, which will be played on the Lady Marshals’ home course at Calvert City Country Club.

Marshall’s girls will be looking to earn another trip to the State Final Rounds in October at Bowling Green Country Club.

The Lady Marshals were state runners-up last season after capturing state championships in 2020 and 2021.
