Veteran ESPN college basketball analyst Seth Greenberg is a Reed Sheppard fan.
“Reed Sheppard is a bad dude. He can flat play and has really impressed me when I have seen him,” Greenberg said. “He can really do a lot of things.
“He is going to be a terrific player. He has a great understanding of the game, a great pedigree with his parents being former Kentucky players and a great passion about where he is going to school.”
Greenberg didn’t say this after watching Sheppard play in Canada this summer. No he offered those comments over a year ago after watching Sheppard in an AAU game months before he started his senior season at North Laurel High School. He said then UK coach John Calipari did not offer players who could not help him win.
Greenberg is even more convinced today that Sheppard will make a significant impact for Calipari’s team this season.
He said probably the biggest surprise for him when he watched UK win four exhibition games in Canada was “how seamlessly Reed Sheppard transitioned” into an impact player for UK.
“He is a really accomplished, mature player,” Greenberg said. “He is tough, competitive, and athletic. He makes shots but he’s also a terrific passer, good cutter, competitive defender.
“I didn’t know his game as well as some other players on John’s team. I had watched his high school tape and was impressed but compared to watching him in games in Canada he was way more impressive.”

Reed is a baller, but he won’t be a starter this season unless somebody gets hurt.
Doesn’t matter he’ll be one reason this team will go far.
Does not have to be a starter to make a huge impact
Better to be a Finisher than a Starter. Reed is a Kentucky and realizes the importance of playing basketball for his home state fans.
GO CATS!
Well said about Reed
