
While she has been outstanding on the golf course and in her efforts to cheer on the teams at University Heights Academy, there is much more than the on-the-court and off-the-court activities for Ava Roberts. It is for those reasons that she is the latest Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’
Ava is a junior at University Heights Academy and has been rockin it in the classroom. She has above a 4.0 GPA and has been taking Advanced Placement Classes, and that is no small accomplishment. As a part of her academic achievements, she was inducted into the National Honor Society her sophomore year.
In addition to her strong classwork, Ava has also been a strong part of her school community.
Ava is the Student Council Class of 2025 Representative, and as a member of the council helps to advocate for her class to make a difference in the school the community.
She has been a part of the Fellowship of Christian Students, Senior Beta, Rotary Interact Club, and the Key Club.
Ava has been participating in the Kentucky Youth Assembly since 6th grade. The Kentucky Youth Assembly is an expanded, educational opportunity in which students serve as part of a model state government. KYA offers students the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of issues, develop critical thinking skills, and articulate their beliefs while engaging constructively with their peers from around the Commonwealth.
Her 7th grade year her bill received the Outstanding Bill of the Commonwealth Award voted on by adults and Y-Staf. She was also rewarded with the Outstanding Speaker Award. In her 9th grade year, Ava ran for Lt. Governor of KYA HS 3 and won the position. Her 10th grade year she served as Lt. Governor. Her responsibilities included leading a youth conference of about 1,000 civically-engaged students and providing constructive criticism to participants to aid in their presentation preparation.
Ava has also been nominated to attend the National Leadership Youth Forum for Medicine to hone her knowledge of medicine for a future career set in the skill.
Even with all of this and her time involved in athletics, Ava finds time to be involved outside of school connections. She is an active member of New Work Fellowship and has volunteered at Vacation Bible School many times. And, she has volunteered at several community organizations.
Then there are her athletic activities as well. Ava has been a varsity cheerleader since 8th grade and got the opportunity to cheer at Rupp Arena for the state tournament in 2021 and at the All “A” Classic for basketball in 2023.
She has been a varsity golfer for UHA for 10th and 11th grade and have qualified as a team for All “A” State both years.
As for what her future holds, Ava says she is striving to attend the University of Tennessee with a major in Journalism and Electronic Media with a sports communication concentration, and hopes to one day work for a professional sports team in the media field.
And you can already see her moving in that direction. She has worked as Social Media Director for the Hoptown Hoppers, managing game-day posts, all social media platforms, and did sports photography/videography.
She runs the BigBlazerNation media account, keeping Blazer Fans updated, and creating memorable pictures and videos for all UHA sports teams.
Ava is also a Co-Editor of the school’s yearbook, and strives to create an unforgettable annual for students and staff that showcases all of the amazing qualities of their school.
Oh, and by the way, she is one of us now. Ava is interning for YourSportsEdge.Com working in sports photography and more.
Now that is a busy young lady, and one that appears to have a brilliant future laying ahead of her. That is why, Ava Roberts is another great Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’
