Riggs’ Third Place Finish Sees Him Advance to State First Round (w/PHOTOS)

Andrew Riggs is picking the perfect time to be playing his best golf.

The Hopkinsville High School senior shot a 2-over-par 73 at Tuesday’s region golf tournament at Ben Hawes State Park in Owensboro.

Riggs tied for third place and will advance to the state first round next week at the Calvert City Country Club.

Riggs scored three birdies in the round and finished three shots behind the winner Seth Moore of Ohio County who put the only score in the red with a 1-under 70.

Thomas Grise put together one of his best rounds of the season with an 82, good for 25th place. She shot a 38 on the front nine and a 44 on the back.

Joey Falco struggled early but came in with a 39 as part of a score of 84. He finished in 31st place and missed the state first-round cut by seven shots.

Isaiah Wood carded an 87 and Ryan Martin shot a 94.

As a team, Hopkinsville shot a score of 326 to finish fifth out of 18 teams.
