Lyons Drop 2 at Christian County Colonel Showcase

With two starters out, Lyon County had trouble mounting a big offensive attack during two matches at the Christian County Colonel Showcase at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.

The Lyons fell 11-1 to Graves County in the morning, then came back after lunch to drop a 4-1 decision to longtime rival Caldwell County.

Graves (4-9) built a 7-1 halftime lead then ended the game on the 10-goal mercy rule with four goals after the break.

Lyon’s lone goal came from Deven Guess.

Jackson Crawford made 15 saves in the Lyon net.

The Lyons came back in the afternoon to face longtime rival Caldwell County. However, Lyon fell behind early and could not recover in the 4-1 setback.

Caldwell (5-8) scored in the 1st minute when Alex Noffsinger scored off an assist from Timothy Nichols.

Nichols then added two goals midway through the first half, with Justice Andrews and Deacon Carter picking up assists.

Caldwell took a 4-0 lead early in the second half on an own goal.

The Lyons (3-12-1) broke up the shutout in the 64th minute.

Crawford scored his first career goal for Lyon off an assist from Guess.

Crawford made six stops in the Lyon net in the first half before moving up in the second half and netting the goal.

The Tigers outshot the Lyons 24-9.

Corbin Nichols recorded five saves for Caldwell.

The Lyons are next scheduled to go to Mayfield on Tuesday.

Lyon will then face Graves again on Thursday, hosting the Eagles for Senior Night in Eddyville.
