
For a brief moment early in the match Monday night, it looked as if the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons might be ready to push the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers. That moment turned out to be just that, brief.
After seeing the Lady Falcons jump out to a 7-2 lead in the opening set, the Lady Blazers came storming back and picked up a straight-set win over Fort Campbell 25-14, 25-12, and 25-7 in an 8th District contest in Blazer Gym.
Once the Lady Blazers got rolling, there was not much the Lady Falcons could do to stop UHA from picking up its 23rd straight-set win of the season.
The Lady Blazers’ attack was paced by Julia Thomas with 8 kills in the match. Chayse Gilliland added 6 and Claire Chewning had four.
Sarah Peebles had another big night setting the table with 22 assists.
The UHA service game played a big role in the win as the Lady Blazers had 17 service aces over the three sets.
Even with the loss, the Lady Falcons did have their moments during the match. Elinor Arnold had a big effort at the net for Fort Campbell finishing with three kills and three blocks. Amanda Kalili-Liusa added two blocks, three assists, and three digs for the Lady Falcons.
University Heights improves to 27-2 with the win, while the Lady Falcons drop to 2-15.
