
A pair of Hopkinsville High School golfers have qualified for the 2023 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac/KHSAA Girls’ Golf State Final Rounds presented by UK HealthCare next week at Bowling Green Country Club.
Cate Blane shot a 5-over-par 77 and Anna Fort had a 9-over 81 in State First Round play Monday at Calvert City Country Club.
Blane, a junior, tied for fifth. Starting on the back nine, Blane shot a 4-over 40 on that side, but birdied the difficult par-4 18th hole.
She then had eight pars and a bogey on the front side of the course while carding a 1-over 37.
Fort, a senior, tied for 15th. She shot a 5-over 41 on the back before recording a 4-over 40 on the front side.
Defending state champion Trinity Beth of Marshall County was medalist on Monday, carding a 2-under 70 on the Lady Marshals’ home course.
Karra Tucker of Madisonville-North Hopkins, the 2nd Region champion last week, was runner-up with an even-par 72.
McCracken County’s Sophie Hollowell, the 1st Region champ, tied for fifth with a 5-over 77.
The Girls’ Golf State Final Rounds will be contested Oct. 3-4 in Bowling Green.
