The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers completed a perfect regular season run through the 8th District Tuesday night. The Lady Blazers picked up a straight-set win at Hopkinsville, giving them an 8-0 record in district play.
Not only did the Lady Blazers not lose a match in the district, they did not lose a set in district play. UHA won 24 sets straight over district competition this year and 35 straight sets dating back to last season.
The Lady Blazers blitzed the Lady Tigers in the opening set, winning 25-7 to go up one set to none. Not much changed in the second set as UHA rolled to a 25-10 win.
UHA then closed out the match by winning the third set 25-14 to take the sweep over Hopkinsville.
The UHA frontline attack came up big again. Julia Thomas had 11 kills. Chayse Gilliland added 9, while Olivia Oakley finished with eight kills.
A huge night for senior Sarah Peebles, who had 31 assists for the match.
Madysen Lawrence and Ajayla Shiraef had two blocks each to lead the Hopkinsville effort.
UHA improves to 28-2 for the season. The Lady Blazers are back in action Monday when they go to Crittenden County.
Hopkinsville falls to 5-13. The Lady Tigers host Trigg County Thursday night.
