Miller’s Hat Trick Helps Caldwell Climb to .500

Caldwell County’s girls have won three of their last four matches to climb back up to the .500 mark.

The Lady Tigers will carry a 7-7 mark into their regular-season finale Tuesday against Fort Campbell after shutting out Paducah Tilghman 6-0 Monday at Butler Stadium in Princeton.

Caldwell led 2-0 at halftime while beating the Lady Tornado for the third straight time.

Keegan Miller had a hat trick for the Lady Tigers, including the first goal of the game in the 20th minute when scored off the rebound of an Addie Middleton shot.

Mariah Merritt scored unassisted in the 26th minute to make it 2-0.

Caldwell gained even more breathing room early in the second half. Brooklyn Hillyard hammered home a shot from in front following a Lexie Sullivan corner kick to make it 3-0.

The Lady Tigers then put the game away with three goals in the final 8 minutes.

Miller’s second goal came when she followed a Merritt shot in the 73rd minute.

Miller scored again in the 77th minute with help from Addie Cagle.

Sullivan then finished the scoring in the 79th minute when she hooked a corner kick into the net to extend the final margin to 6-0.

Abbey Gill made three saves for Caldwell in the first half while Lainey Beshear had two stops in the second half.

It was the Lady Tigers’ fifth shutout of the season.

Meanwhile, it was the seventh-straight loss for Paducah Tilghman, which is now 1-11.

Caldwell outshot Tilghman 25-5.

The Lady Tigers will face Fort Campbell Tuesday as part of a Senior Night doubleheader. The guys will play first while the girls play the late game.
