Caldwell Volleyball Beats Madisonville, Captures No. 1 Seed

The Caldwell County volleyball team claimed the No. 1 seed in the 7th District Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers won 3-1 at Madisonville-North Hopkins, completing a regular-season sweep of the Lady Maroons in district matchups.

With Hopkins County Central and Madisonville each having two district losses, Caldwell has secured the top seed for the district tourney.

Caldwell will finish up district play when it hosts Hopkins County Central on Thursday. However, the Lady Tigers have already secured a berth in the district championship match — and are guaranteed a spot in the 2nd Region tournament, which Caldwell will host this season.

The Lady Tigers won by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18 at Madisonville.

Ellie Ramey had eight kills and seven digs in the district win while Brylee Butts had seven kills, three blocks and three digs.

Rylee Thompson had seven kills, 14 digs and five service aces. Benashka Thomas recorded six kills, a block and three digs.

Kylee White had 27 assists to go with a kill, five digs and four aces. Morgan Aikins recorded a kill, two digs and two aces.

Madison Cooper tallied 10 digs and two aces while T.J. Goodwin had eight digs.

Anna Giltz added five digs and Mycah Riddle had two digs.

Caldwell is now 9-10 overall and 3-0 in the district. Madisonville is 7-14 and 1-2.
