Lyon County senior Travis Perry got off to a slow start in Tuesday’s State First Round tournament at Calvert City Country Club.
A pair of double bogeys over his first seven holes led to an 8-over-par 44 on the back nine.
Perry bounced back to birdie No. 1 and shot a 1-over 37 on the front nine.
But his 9-over-par 81 was four shots off a potential trip to the 2023 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac Golf State Final Rounds in Bowling Green next week.
Perry shot a 72 last week while tying for second in the 1st Region tournament at Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter.
Greenwood’s Jacob Lang was medalist at the State First Round with a 4-under-par 68. McCracken County’s Landon Hunt, who played at Christian County last year, was runner-up with a 2-under 70.
Perry will now turn his attention to basketball, where he is already the state’s all-time leading scorer. Perry’s Lyons will be looking for their third-straight trip to the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen.
