It was a night of records and firsts for the Trigg County Lady Wildcat soccer team Wednesday on post at Fort Campbell.
Trigg’s 10-0 win saw them wrap up the regular season with a 16-2 record, equaling the program-best win total set last year when the Lady Wildcats made a run to the region championship game.
The eighth shutout by the Lady Wildcat defense is also a new record.
Trigg sisters Lania and Leiah Hite continued to etch their names into the record book. Lania’s goal in the 28th minute gave Trigg a 4-0 lead and was the 141st of her career, passing Lauren Frazier for the most in school history. She ended the night with four goals and stands as the 5th District’s all-time leading scorer.
Lania’s record-setting goal came off a cross from her sister Leiah, who already holds the single-season assists record with 35 and the career mark with 55.
Senior Zoe Miller got the scoring going in the 16th minute when a Fort Campbell handball in the box allowed the senior defender to poke home the penalty kick for her second career goal.
Addison Humphries scored the first of her two goals six minutes later off a feed from Camryn Boone.
Leiah Hite made the score 3-0 off a pass from Hallie Joiner in the 24th minute.
Trigg County ended the half when Payton Southwood scored her first career goal off a pass from Hallie Joiner for a 6-0 lead.
The Lady Wildcats ended the game when Isabella Detweiler scored her first career goal with 4:21 left on the clock to trigger the 10-goal mercy rule.
Fort Campbell (2-9) closes its regular season Thursday night against Russellville at Fryar Stadium. They will play University Heights Academy in the 8th District Tournament Tuesday at the Stadium of Champions.
Trigg County (16-2) will play in Tuesday’s 5th District championship at Lyon County. Monday’s game between Lyon County and Crittenden County will decide their opponent.
