The Fort Campbell Falcons have put themselves in a position to play for a home playoff berth next Friday night, if they are allowed to play. The Falcons started with a bang and rolled on from there, as they claimed a 37-6 district win over Edmonson County.
That win combined with Todd County Central’s loss at Owensboro Catholic means that a Falcon win next week at Todd Central would lock them into a home-field playoff game in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs. But there are potential issues with the matchup, and we will get to that in a moment.
As for Friday night’s action, Fort Campbell made a statement on the opening kickoff when Eric Green came up with an 80-yard return for the score to put the Falcons up 7-0 just 11 seconds into the game.
Fort Campbell found the end zone again late in the quarter. This time it was quarterback Jacaryous Perryman, who ran it in from four yards out with 2:46 to go in the first, giving the Falcons a 14-0 lead.

The story of the second quarter was the ‘drive to nowhere’ from Edmonson County. The Wildcats had the ball for the final 18 plays of the opening half and yet were still 49 yards away from the end zone when the half came to an end. The drive started on their own 14-yard line, took up more than half of the second quarter, and still left the Wildcats half of the field to go, as the half ended with the Falcons still up 14-0.
Edmonson County also ran the first four plays of the second half, giving them 22 in a row, before the Falcons finally got the ball back.
Fort Campbell made Edmonson County pay for not finding the end zone on the next possession when Maurice Moore caught a short pass and took it 59 yards to the end zone to extend the Falcon lead to 21-0.

Edmonson County had yet another long drive, this one 13 plays, on their next possession. This time though, it paid off for the Wildcats when Michael Mills scored from one yard out to cut the lead to 21-8. Then came the defensive play of the night for the Falcons and it turned the momentum it appeared the Wildcats were about to seize.
With the Wildcats on the move in Fort Campbell territory, Keshawn Dixon, who had to leave the game for a stretch of the third quarter, came up with a big hit and a big stop on fourth down, ending a threatening Edmonson County drive.
That stop ignited a 17-point run for the Falcons to close out the game and seal the win. Ryan Brewer nailed a 26-yard field goal with 6:33 left in the game to make it 24-8. Jacaryous Perryman added a 20-yard touchdown run with 2:29 left and threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to McKenzie Andrews with 2:04 left in the game to close out the scoring.
Keshawn Dixon led the Falcon rushing attack with 17 carries for 84 yards. J.P. Perryman had 11 carries for 57 yards and two scores.
Perryman was 4-9-1 through the air for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Maurice Moore was the leading receiver with two catches for 68 yards and a touchdown.
The Wildcats ran more plays than the Falcons, 64 to 38, yet the Falcons had more yardage 266 to 211.
With the win, the Falcons move to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in district play. The question now becomes will the Falcons get a chance for home field next week at Todd Central, or more specifically, will they even get the chance to play for it.
School officials at Fort Campbell High School told YourSportsEdge.Com Friday night that if the government shutdown happens, no extracurricular activities will be allowed to take place for the duration, which would impact next Friday’s scheduled game at Todd County Central.

Tho it’s been years since I went there, they are still my favorite high school team. And they still got it! The govt shutdown shouldn’t affect school games! That’s ridiculous! They need term limits on everyone in the govt. Not just the president.
