Florida coach Billy Napier certainly doesn’t know the anguish among Big Blue Nation over the “sophomore slump” that Dane Key and Barion Brown have been having according to some because they have not had the expected production yet even though Kentucky is 4-0.
Maybe Napier still remembers the big play that Key had against the Gators last year when UK won in Gainesville for the second time in the last three games there.
Napier praised UK’s receivers in a big way on the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday.
“I think they’ve got a good group. The two true sophomores from last year, they’ve taken a good step forward,” Napier said. “You throw the Virginia Tech transfer (Tayvion Robinson)in there … they’ve got some speed and got some wiggle.”
Napier also noted that quarterback Devin Leary “can throw it all over the park” to those receivers and others.
“I think they’re capable of run after catch plays, I think they can win one-on-one matchups. And then there is the vertical passing game, the shots, the movement passes,” Napier said.
“They do a good job of distributing the ball to all those guys. And I think they’re good players.”
