Lyon County’s girls will get a third shot at Trigg County — and this one will be for a district championship.
Lady Lyon junior Alice Smith tallied a half-dozen goals Monday as Lyon dispatched Crittenden County 10-3 in semifinal action at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.
The same field will be the site Tuesday night when Lyon (11-5-1) takes on Trigg (16-2) for the 5th District title. Both teams are already assured of spots in the 2nd Region tournament field next week.
Smith pushed her season goal total to 56 as Lyon did all of its offensive damage in the first half while building a 10-1 lead at the intermission.
Smith’s first goal came just 3 minutes into the contest as she dribbled in and drilled a shot into the far side of the net.
Olivia Adams converted a penalty kick in the 10th minute after Crittenden was whistled for a handball in the penalty box.
Just 2 minutes later, Anna White scored from the left side to push the Lyon lead to 3-0.
Crittenden (6-9) threatened to make a game of it in the 14th minute when Elizabeth Campbell turned and shot one into the net from the top of the box to make it 3-1.
But Smith kept the momentum on Lyon’s side with goals in the 23rd, 25th and 26th minutes to extend the margin to 6-1.
White scored her second goal in the 33rd minute and Adams netted her second tally in the 34th to make it 8-1.
Smith connected for two more goals in the 35th and 36th minutes as the Lady Lyons were able to repeatedly get behind the Crittenden defense and dribble in for goals at point-blank range.
Campbell added two more goals for Crittenden in the second half, but the Lady Rockets could only get as close as 10-3.
Ella Geary, Bailey Williams and Joslyn Silcox each had an assist for Crittenden.
For Lyon, Adams, Karli Patterson, Anna Crawford and Gracelynn Taylor each had a helper.
Richmond Herring and Sadie Gandee each had three saves in the Lyon net.
Macibelle Hardesty recorded 12 stops for Crittenden.
Lyon had 31 shots in the contest while Crittenden had 10. The margin in the first half was 20-4.
The girls’ district championship match is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Trigg took the two regular-season meetings 4-3 and 6-2.
The Lyon and Trigg boys’ teams will play for the district title first Tuesday at 5:30.
