The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers will be looking to continue their recent dominance in the 8th District as the girls’ soccer tournament gets underway tonight at the Stadium of Champions. UHA is looking for their second straight title and their seventh in the past eight seasons.

The only thing keeping the Lady Blazers from playing for an 8th straight title is a 2-0 loss to Hopkinsville in the 2021 district championship match. And, on paper, the Lady Tigers would appear to be the strongest challenge once again.

Action gets underway with both semifinals Tuesday night. At 5:30, the top-seeded Lady Blazers will take on the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons. The two teams met all the way back on August 10 with UHA picking up an 11-0 win in a match that ended at the half. The Lady Blazers have scored 102 goals this season, while Fort Campbell has scored five.

The 7:30 match will have the second-seeded Hopkinsville Lady Tigers taking on third-seeded Christian County. Hoptown won a tough 2-0 decision over the Lady Colonels on September 12 and this one could be another tough, low-scoring affair.

The winners from Tuesday night’s matches will play in the championship. That match will be played Thursday evening at the Stadium of Champions.
