The pairings are now set for the boys’ 2nd Region soccer tournament. The draw took place during a Zoom meeting Friday morning. This year’s tournament is being played at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School and will get underway Monday evening.
Monday night’s first contest at 5:30 will have the 8th District champion University Heights (12-8-1) taking on 5th District runner-up Lyon County (3-15-1).The two teams met in the All A Classic earlier this season with UHA taking a 4-0 win.
The second game Monday night, around 7:30, will find 7th District champions Madisonville-North Hopkins (16-3-3) battling Webster County (11-10-1). The two met on September 25 with Madisonville rolling to a 5-0 win.
Quarterfinal play resumes Tuesday at 5:30 when 5th District champ Trigg County (2-9-2) tangles with 8th District runner-up Christian County (7-10-0). The two teams did not play during the regular season.
The final quarterfinal Tuesday night at 7:30 will have 6th Region champion Henderson County (11-4-3) facing 7th District runner-up Hopkins County Central (3-10-1). The two played on September 7 with the Colonels cruising to a 10-0 win.
The semifinals are set for 5:30 and 7:30 Wednesday night with the championship slated for 7:30 Thursday.
Tickets will be $10 cash at the gate.
