Pairings are now in place for the girls’ 2nd Region soccer tournament. The draw for the tournament took place during a Zoom meeting Friday morning. This year’s tournament is being played at Henderson County High School and will get underway Monday evening.
Monday night’s first contest at 5:30 will pit 6th District champion Henderson County (10-8-0) against 7th District runner-up Hopkins County Central (7-12-0). The two met in the season opener with Henderson taking a 7-1 win over the Lady Storm.
The second game Monday night, around 7:30, with see 5th District champion Trigg County (17-2-0) matched against 8th District runner-up Hopkinsville (9-8-2). The two met September 25 with the Lady Wildcats winning 4-2.
Quarterfinal play resumes Tuesday at 5:30 as 7th District champion Madisonville-North Hopkins (9-8-1) takes on 5th District runner-up Lyon County. The two played September 9 in Eddyville with the Lady Maroons coming out on top 6-1.
The final quarterfinal Tuesday night at 7:30 will have 8th District champion University Heights (16-2-1) battling 6th District runner-up Union County (3-16-0). The two teams did not play during the regular season.
The semifinals are set for 5:30 and 7:30 Wednesday night with the championship slated for 5:30 Thursday.
