In just her first season at Christian County, Taylor Morris continues to place her name among the fastest times run.

Morris led the Lady Colonels with a 33rd-place finish in 21:07 at Saturday’s Daviess County Classic.

It’s the second-fastest 5K cross country time in school history. Kayla Welch has the school record at 20:40 set in 2007. Rhyne Howard, the 2022 WNBA Rookie of the Year, has Christian County’s fourth and fifth fastest times that she ran as a sixth grader before later moving to Cleveland, Tennessee, and making her mark in basketball where she would go on to play for Kentucky and win the SEC Player of the Year twice.

Ellie Brown finished in 126th place Saturday for the Lady Colonels, while Aubrey Cline was 181st and Haddassuh Elkins was 192nd. All three ran their fastest times of the season on Saturday.

Christian County didn’t send the five runners necessary to the start line to field a team score.

Ohio County’s Morgan Kobylinski won the race, covering the 3.1-mile course at Owensboro’s Yellow Creek Park in 18:16. The course will be the site of the Region 1 meet in all three classes on October 21.
