There was a bit of history made Sunday afternoon for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. The Lady Rebels limited Clinton County to just one shot on goal as they rolled past the Lady Bulldogs 5-0 for their first-ever 4th Region tournament win.

The Lady Rebels got a big afternoon from senior Melanie Chamberlaine, who scored four first-half goals to lead the way.

Over the last five meetings between the two teams, the Lady Rebels have outscored Clinton County 40-0.

Todd County Central got on the board at the 11:20 mark when Melanie Chamberlaine took a pass from Jaidyn Holland right in front of the goal and found the net to give the Lady Rebels a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Rebels would then seal the deal over a span of 4 ½ minutes late in the half. Chamberlaine scored goals at 30:00, 32:00, and 34:20 to run the lead out to 4-0 at the half. Todd County Central took nine shots in the opening half to just one for Clinton County, and that stat would not get better for the Lady Bulldogs in the second half.

The Todd County Central defense continued to turn Clinton County away in the middle of the field and not allow them scoring chances in the second half. On the other end, the Lady Rebels had plenty of looks but found the goal only one more time in the second half of play.

Junior Ava Scott drilled a long shot from out in front of the goal to extend the lead to 5-0 late in the match as the Lady Rebels closed out the win.

The shot margin grew even more pronounced in the second half, as Todd Central took 15 shots to none for Clinton County. For the match, the shots on goal were 24 to 1.

With the win, the Lady Rebels improve to 10-7-1 and move on to Wednesday night’s semifinals, where they will take on the Bowling Green Purples. Bowling Green had no trouble with Barren County in Sunday’s other quarterfinal at Warren Central, dispatching the Trojanettes 10-0.

The contest will be a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal match, which Bowling Green won 10-0. The match is set for 5:30 Wednesday at Warren Central.
