Caldwell County’s Ellie Ramey is a senior leader for the 2023 Lady Tiger volleyball team after topping the squad in kills in 2022.

She is an even bigger leader off the court, with a lengthy list of extracurricular activities.

Ramey is a member of Student Council, FBLA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, School Wide Achievement Team (SWAT), Caldwell Crazies and the Central Presbyterian Youth Group.

She is also a Farmers Bank Ambassador.

Ramey is ranked No. 1 in her class and has been identified as Gifted and Talented in Leadership, English and Language Arts, Music and Art.

She received the Highest GPA Award in Honors Chemistry, Honors Algebra 2, Honors Spanish 2, Honors English, Honors Biology, Business Management and College Algebra.

Ramey was chosen for the Governor’s Scholars Program this past summer. GSP is a highly-competitive program which is provided free of charge to students through partnerships across the state, the Kentucky Legislature, and the Office of the Governor.

Ramey has been chosen to the All-Academic Team for both the 7th District and the 2nd Region from 2020-23.

A volleyball team captain this season, Ramey has recorded 90 kills in 26 matches along with two blocks, 27 service aces and 114 digs.

Ramey and the Lady Tigers carry a 14-15 record into their final two matches of the regular season at home on Saturday against Graves County and Todd County Central.

Caldwell’s girls are the No. 1 seeds for the 7th District tournament next week in Mortons Gap and have already secured a berth in the championship contest Tuesday night.

As a district finalist, Caldwell is assured a spot in the 2nd Region tournament as well. CCHS will host the 2023 regional tournament at the CAB gym starting Monday, Oct. 23.

Ellie and her parents, Layne and Chris Ramey, were recognized during Caldwell’s Senior Night volleyball game on Thursday.
