
Hopkinsville High School put three runners in the top 10 and finished in second place at Saturday’s King and Queen of the West at Christian County.
Lauren Mayes led the runners with a third place finish in 22:01. It was an improvement of nearly two minutes from her time on the same course in the season opener two months ago.
Kaydon Coats finished in eighth place in 23:01 and Rebecca Wood was ninth in 23:20. For Coats, she missed a personal best time by three seconds and knocked over three minutes off her August time on the same course.
Wood’s time was a season-best as she ran a faster time for the third straight race.
Evelyn Bangart was 23rd in 27:02, and Luanna Acree was 30th in 30:10.
As a team, Hopkinsville totaled 29 points, which was two points behind Northwest.
Hopkinsville will compete in the Class 2A region meet on Saturday in Owensboro.
