How did you spend your week off from work? Brody Renfroe used a bye week from football to run a cross country race Saturday.
The Trigg County freshman is a kicker and receiver for the Wildcat football team. He is 12-for-16 on PATs and has a touchdown catch.
With the football team on a bye week, Renfroe decided to answer the call presented to him by some friends on the cross country team. With just one practice under his belt, Renfroe posted a top-20 finish at the King and Queen of the West Invitational at Christian County. His time for the 3.1-mile race? 20:14. A tick higher than his goal of breaking 20 minutes.
Renfroe is no stranger to running. He competes in middle-distance events for the Trigg track and field team where he posted an eighth-place finish at the region meet in the 400 meters.
Renfroe expects to kick for the Wildcats at Friday night’s game at McLean County and then run in the region meet Saturday in Owensboro. His addition to the cross country team gives them depth as they attempt to qualify for the state meet as a team.
