2nd Region Volleyball Tournament Pairings in Place for Monday Night Start

The path to the 2nd Region volleyball championship is now set. The draw for this year’s tournament, which is being held at Caldwell County High School, was held Friday morning on a Google Meeting, with representatives of the 8 schools qualifying for the tournament online.

Crittenden County, Henderson County, Caldwell County, and University Heights enter as district champions.

Livingston Central, Union County, Hopkins County Central, and Christian County are the district runner-ups.

The tournament gets underway Monday evening and will run through Thursday night. The quarterfinals on Monday and Tuesday, along with the semifinals on Wednesday, will be played at 5:30 and 7:00. The championship match is set for Thursday evening at 6:00.

Monday night’s action will have region favorite and 8th District champion University Heights (33-2) taking on 5th District runner-up Livingston Central (10-11). The two teams met in the All A Classic regional tournament with UHA winning in two sets.

The second match Monday night will have 6th District champion Henderson County (11-23) squaring off against 7th District runner-up Hopkins County Central (9-16). The teams met in the Quad State tournament with the Lady Colonels winning in two sets.

The two winners from Monday night will play in the 5:30 semifinal Wednesday.

Tuesday night’s first quarterfinal will have 5th District champ Crittenden County (15-13) matched up against 6th District runner-up Union County (13-10). The two teams did not meet during the regular season.

The final first-round game Tuesday night will have 7th District champ Caldwell County (15-17) taking on 8th District runner-up Christian County (19-11). The two teams met in Princeton October 12, with the Lady Colonels winning a hard-fought five-set decision.

The two winners from Tuesday will play in Wednesday night’s second semifinal match.

Tickets for the tournament will be $10 and will be available through GoFan and will be sold at the tournament site. No cash tickets will be sold.
