The Todd County Central Rebels will be the #3 seed in Class 2 District 2 when the playoffs begin in two weeks. The Rebels locked up the third spot with a 26-14 district road win Friday night at Edmonson County.

The win over the Wildcats means the Rebels will head off to Marion for the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs to take on the Crittenden County Rockets, who are the second seed in District 1.

Things got off to a bit of a rocky start for the Rebels Friday night. Edmonson County took the opening kickoff and drove right down the field, capping off a 70-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run from quarterback Noah Meredith to put the Wildcats up 7-0. The score was set up by a 47-yard run from Michael Mills.

The scored stayed unchanged until the turning point of the night, which came about late in the first half. With 2:41 to go in the second, Edmonson County elected to go for it on fourth down inside their own 40. The Rebels came up with the stop and then made the Wildcats pay for their decision.

On the very next play, Miles Reding found Antonio Fitzgerald running open down the seam and hit for a 36-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 with 2:35 left in the half. After another stop, the Rebels had the chance to add another score before the break, but Miles Reding was picked off inside the ten-yard line to end the threat.

The Rebels took the second-half kickoff and moved down the field, finding paydirt when Ricky Woodard ran it in from 10 yards out to give Todd Central its first lead of the night at 13-7 with 9:43 to go in the third. The defenses for both teams controlled play for the rest of the quarter leaving the margin at six as the final 12 minutes began.

Miles Reding scored from one yard out with 7:06 to go to give the Rebels a little breathing room finally at 20-7. Less than four minutes later, Reding and Fitzgerald hooked up for the second time of the night, this time from 10 yards out to run the lead out to 26-7.
