
The Dawson Springs Lady Panthers finished in 20th place at Saturday’s KHSAA Class 1A State Cross Country Meet in Lexington.
Eighth-grader Audrey McCoy led the Lady Panther effort with a 53rd-place finish, covering the 3.1-mile rolling course at the Kentucky Horse Park in 22:53.
Fellow eighth grader Baylee Swatzell was 67th in 23:21. She was followed across the line by Ashtyn Swatzell in 86th place (23:56); Alyssa Allison in 220th place (31:57); Gracie Barrett in 231st place; and Maddie Back in 232nd place.
As a team, Dawson Springs scored 546 points – the same as Crittenden County who the tie-breaker based on the finish of the sixth-place runner.
Saturday’s finish showed gradual improvement for the Lady Panthers who were 28th at state in 2021 and 26th last year.
