
Heritage Christian Academy’s Dalke sisters made history Saturday when they toed the starting line of the KHSAA Girls’ Class A State Cross Country Meet.
MeKena, a freshman, and Emma, an eighth-grader, were the first HCA runners to qualify for the KHSAA state meet after their finishes last week at the Region 1 meet.
MeKena completed the 3.1-mile course in a time of 23:33, which was good for 73rd place out of 232 runners.
Emma, in just her second high school race, finished in 113th place at 24:40, beating her previous best time by 35 seconds.
In cross country, five runners must complete the race to accumulate a team score.
