The Trigg County High School Varsity Cheerleaders kicked off the competitive cheer season over the weekend. Trigg County competed in the Middle Tennessee Classic Cheer Competition at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro.

The Trigg team earned 2nd place in the Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day division scoring, 88.7 out of a possible 100. Centennial High School earned 1st place in the division scoring 91.9.

Game Day division simulates Sideline Cheer in a Competitive Cheer Competition with routines that are 3:00 minutes long consisting of four key elements: Band Chant, Sideline, Crowd Cheer, and School Fight Song.

Coach Katie Reed said she was proud of the squad, noting that they “worked through injuries this week and a tough ending of football season to take the mat Sunday with most of our team competing for the first time ever. Our goals were to improve from last season, hit zero deductions, and score in the 90% percentile.”

Trigg County improved from last year’s total score by 12 points.

The Trigg County cheerleaders will now get ready for the KHSAA Region 1 & 2 Cheer on November 11 at McCracken County High School, where they will be competing in the Small Varsity Game Day division.
