It has been a bit of a hiatus for the Fort Campbell Falcons and Fryar Stadium. The Falcons will host their first home football playoff game in eleven years Thursday evening as they host the Murray Tigers in the opening round of the Class 2A football playoffs.

The last time Fryar was the site of a playoff contest was in 2012 when Fort Campbell played at home twice in the postseason. That year, the Falcons knocked off Hart County 57-8 in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs. The Falcons would then lose the following week on their home turf against South Warren 24-7 in Shawn Berner’s final game as head coach.

The Falcons enter the 2023 playoffs with a record of 5-5 and 2-1 in district play. Murray comes in at 6-4 with a 1-2 district record. Murray has an RPI of .59395 while the Falcons RPI rating is .48000.

After Fort Campbell won the first two matchups between the teams in 2008 and 2009, the Tigers have won the last six meetings, all by at least 15 points or more.

Both teams enter on two-game losing streaks. Fort Campbell dropped decisions to Owenboro Catholic and Webster County, while Murray lost to Mayfield and Madisonville-North Hopkins.

The teams shared three common opponents this season. Fort Campbell beat Fulton County and then lost to Trigg County and Madisonville-North Hopkins. Murray picked up a forfeit against Fulton County, lost big to Madisonville, and beat Trigg County by five in the first week of the season.

Kickoff between Fort Campbell and Murray is set for Thursday night at 7:00 at Fryar Stadium.
