He’s already become the state’s all-time leading scorer with 4,359 points to surpass the total legendary King Kelly Coleman posted, taken Lyon County to two straight state tournaments and set the state record for made 3-pointers with 528.
Now four-star guard Travis Perry is ready to make his college choice.
He has narrowed his impressive list of offers to Alabama, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Mississippi and Western Kentucky and will announce his choice Sunday at 2 p.m. CST.
Perry made an official visit to Alabama last weekend. He made it clear he definitely enjoyed his official visit to Ole Miss and spent time at UK during his fall break watching practice and talking to coaches. Western Kentucky has obviously made him a recruiting priority.
Perry had many other offers including Missouri, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue and LSU.
I still remember the first time I saw him play at Marshall County HoopFest when he was only a freshman and was already a scoring machine as well as a floor leader. The best thing about Perry, though, is that he’s never changed. Sure, he’s got better as a player but as a person he’s been the same genuine person while pursuing and breaking the scoring record and becoming a top 100 national recruit.
He’s always been available — and returned phone calls — during his career and made it clear the most important factor in his recruitment would be relationships with the coaching staff he chooses. He has been looking for a school where he would feel “comfortable” on and off the court.
“I’ll look at a lot of things on the basketball side and for a system that fits me but relationships are big because the coaches and players become your family,” Perry told me several months ago. “I want to play for a coach and program that values winning as much as I do.”

In what I’m hearing not going to be a cat.
Hopefully he will see what Reed is doing and know he can do the same right here at UK. If not I wish him the best where ever he decides to go. Seems like a good kid and a talented one to boot!
Travis is a terrific player
