A pair of big games by Caldwell County grad Derrin Boyd has helped Lipscomb University win back-to-back basketball tilts.

Boyd had a game-high 22 points Tuesday night as Lipscomb rolled to a 96-65 triumph at Tennessee Tech.

Boyd’s huge night came on the heels of a career-best 26-point effort on Saturday in the Bisons’ 113-74 home victory over Asbury University.

On Tuesday, Boyd was 8 of 14 on field goal attempts and made two of his five shots from behind the 3-point arc. He was four for four at the free throw line and also added five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 27 minutes of action.

Lipscomb led the Golden Eagles 40-22 at halftime.

Boyd is now averaging a team-high 19 points a game for the Bisons, who have recorded consecutive wins after starting the season with road losses at Wichita State and Drake.

Boyd is shooting 57.1 percent from the field this season and 43.8 percent from 3-point range.

Lipscomb returns home Saturday at noon for a tilt against Alabama A&M in Allen Arena in Nashville.
