It appears there could potentially be a change in leadership for the Christian County High School football program. In a statement Tuesday morning, Christian County High School Principal Kevin Crider announced the head football coach position for the high school program will be posted immediately.

In the statement issued through the Christian County Public Schools, Crider stated “We want to take this opportunity to thank interim coach Zach Self who stepped in to help lead the program over the past couple of seasons. We are excited to go to work looking for the next coach to lead and build our program.”

Self had officially been serving in an ‘interim’ capacity for the program. No indication has been given as to whether or not Self intends to apply for the position.

The news release states that Christian County High will conduct a comprehensive search for the new head coach.

The announcement comes the day after the school district announced that there would be no early consolidation of the athletic programs from Christian County and Hopkinsville prior to the opening of the new Christian County High School, which is scheduled for the fall of 2026.

There was no additional information given in the statement.

  1. I believe one of Hopkinsville’s greats should be rewarded this opportunity. His investment into the football program as a student athlete while at CCHS, his knowledge and experience he could lend to students on making to the the next level and the level after that would be invaluable to students and the program. Crider call up your classmate, Tony McCombs.
