With just under two weeks to go until they open the regular season against visiting Vienna, IL, the Lyon County Lyons earned a pair of scrimmage wins over 1st-Region competition on Thursday at Murray State University’s CFSB Center.  The Lyons outscored Calloway County in three of four quarters in the opener before pulling away in the third and final frame in the nightcap against McCracken County.

Bray Kirk got the Lyons started with seven first-quarter points to outscore the Lakers 16-12.  However, despite ten points from recent University of Kentucky commit Travis Perry, Calloway County prevailed 14-12 over the second ten minutes.

With the clock resetting after each quarter, Jack Reddick scored nine of his team-high 14 in the third to steer the Lyons to a 22-19 advantage.  After both teams went to their benches to start the fourth, Lyon County got four points from Carson Collins to outscore the Lakers by nine for a 61-47 final score.

Kirk matched Reddick with 14 points, followed by Perry with 12, and Brady Shoulders with 10.

Defending 1st-Region champions McCracken County awaited in the second matchup, and the teams couldn’t be separated after the first ten minutes despite five first-quarter points from Perry.

The Lyons outscored the Mustangs 11-8 in the second before blowing it open in the final quarter behind eight points from Shoulders.  Reddick added eight to help Lyon County to a 39-25 victory.
