For the first time in school history, the Trigg County Wildcat cheerleaders have earned a bid to the national championships in Florida in February. The Trigg cheer squad earned that bid with a 4th place finish at the UCA Bluegrass Regional Saturday at the Central Bank Center in Lexington.
The Trigg County cheerleaders finished with a score of 80.40 in the Small Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day division. The squad had to pull off a clean routine with no deductions to advance.
As a result of their finish, the Trigg squad received a bid to compete at the UCA Nationals High School Cheerleading Championships at Walt Disney World Resort on February 9-12.
The trip to the UCA Nationals will be the first for the Trigg cheer program, which won back-to-back state titles in 2000-01.
Middlesboro High School won the division with a score of 92.
