If there is one given for Kentucky athletics it is that the volleyball team will win a SEC championship.

Kentucky won its 14th straight match Sunday beating Missouri 3-1 (25-12, 25-15, 18-25, 25-21)  behind 20 kills from sensational freshman Brooklyn DeLeye and needs just one more win to clinch at least a share of a seventh straight SEC title.

Kentucky is 15-1 in SEC play going into Wednesday’s match at No. 9 Arkansas. The Cats close the season Saturday by hosting Florida.

Both Arkansas and Tennessee are 14-2. The Vols have matches left with Mississippi State and South Carolina while Arkansas also has to play at Auburn following its showdown with Kentucky on Wednesday.

Remember when coach Craig Skinner’s team was 3-7 and looking like it might not only fail to win the SEC but maybe not make the NCAA Tournament. Now UK is in position to host matches on the opening weekend of tourney play.

Kentucky hit over .386 overall against Missouri and setter Emma Grome was again masterful with 48 assists.

Azhani Tealer had five blocks for UK while Megan Wilson and Elise Goetzinger both had four.

Eleanor Beavin had 13 digs for Skinner’s team.
