For the second consecutive game, the Christian County Colonels lost a close contest away from home. Kanyon Johnson scored 8 points in the final quarter as Christian County saw Madisonville-North Hopkins come back from a 4th quarter deficit to take a 61-58 win in Madisonville.

The game had its ebbs and flows over the course of the night. The Maroons got the early momentum and took a 14-9 lead after the opening quarter.

Madisonville continued to hold the lead through the second quarter. As the half ended, the Colonels found themselves trailing 30-27. It could have been worse news for the Colonels except for the play of Derrell Bateman, who scored 17 points in the half.

The Colonel defense limited the Maroons to just 10 points in the third quarter as Christian County fought back to take a 44-40 lead into the final eight minutes of the game.

But this night would belong to Kanyon Johnson and the Maroons as Madisonville rallied and claimed the three-point win on their home floor.

Christian County was led by Derrell Bateman, who finished the game with 24 points. Prince Northington also hit double-figures with 16.

Kanyon Johnson was the only Madisonville player to hit double-digits with 16 points. Maverick Peyton and Antonio Gant had eight points each.

Christian County (0-2) travels to Paducah Friday night to take on Paducah Tilghman.
