Todd County Central point guard Keshawn Moore may only be a freshman, but he certainly doesn’t shy away from the big moment. On a night when Jamison Glass continued his torrid start to the season with 34 points, it was Moore’s bucket in the lane with :01.4 seconds remaining that proved decisive in the Rebels’ 66-65 victory over visiting Creek Wood, TN.
Glass got started on another big scoring night with seven points in the first quarter, but Creek Wood got nine from Reiken Howard and Jamison Ford drilled a pair of three-pointers for a 19-10 advantage.
The Rebels outscored the Red Hawks 16-13 in the second quarter with Moore and Hayden Strader combining for ten points. But Creek Wood still took a 32-26 edge into the halftime break.
Glass took over with 12 points in the third, and the Rebels held the Red Hawks to only seven points in the frame. Nursing a two-point lead to start the fourth, Glass continued to dominate in the paint with 13 more points. However, Ford scored ten, and Howard and Greyson Walker each added eight to put Creek Wood up a point in the final seconds. Moore stepped into the spotlight, driving the lane and hitting the game-winner for the Rebels’ first win of the year.
Neither team did themselves any favors at the free throw line, with Todd Central finishing 8/17 and the Red Hawks hitting eight in 14 tries.
Strader finished with 11 to join Glass in double figures, and Devin Schutt scored ten.
