Kentucky’s Tre Mitchell had a warning for Penn after the Cats lost last Saturday to UNC-Wilmington.
“I feel bad for whoever we got next. Short and sweet. I don’t think these dudes are going to take this lightly,” Mitchell said. “You know, I think whoever we play next better come with everything they got because these dudes have something to make up for. Just simple as that.”
The “dudes” at Penn get their chance to test Kentucky on Saturday at noon in Philadelphia.
Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard played well enough in the win over Miami and loss to UNC-Wilmington to be named SEC Freshman of the Week. But he was not happy that UK lost.
“Any time you lose, it’s a bad feeling. Nobody likes to lose. You have to give credit to UNC-Wilmington. They played a great game, they hit shots. They did what they needed to do. Tough loss, but any loss is a bad loss,” Sheppard said.
He’s right because a home loss to UNC-Wilmington is a “very” bad loss for Kentucky. It will cost the Cats a spot or two on the NCAA Tournament seed line most likely.
Sheppard felt the Cats were prepared and ready to play but then wilted a bit when UNC-Wilmington kept hitting shots.
“They’re a really good team, and we didn’t play well. We didn’t share the ball well, we didn’t shoot it well, and they did so that’s what happened,” the UK freshman said.
Kentucky coach John Calipari hopes his team learned the value of sharing the ball because of what happened against UNC-Wilmington when it did not.
“I would tell you that there are some guys playing on this team that because they’re on an unselfish team, they really look good,” Calipari said after the loss. “And they’ve made other people look good.
“What you saw today, you could say so-and-so was okay. We can go right down the line. Why didn’t he play to the level where he was? We didn’t do this together.
“But it’s a good lesson. But believe me, it wasn’t just offense. It wasn’t. You’ve got to stay in front of people.”

I’ve never been a fan of warning the next team.. Just do it.
It’s never a good idea to run your mouth like that. It’s a jinx. Look for Penn to be fired up and beat our a**. 2 losses in a row.
Unfortunately many in BBN have become comfortable talking about winning championships and past glory while our team has not been taken as a serious contender since 2015. We are dangerously close to becoming the next Indiana who disappeared from relevancy for years after Bobby Knight was booted. With the changes that OAD and NIL have brought to the game, I am wondering if we will ever be a powerhouse again. Calipari certainly doesn’t want to be held to that level of accountability and many in BBN are ok with giving him a pass on that. Barnhart should have given the lifetime contract to Pitino.
Barnhart wasn’t the athletic director at the time when Pitino was coaching, but agree wish we had sign him for life.
Calipari’s contract ends in 2029. Not when he dies. The Cats had a good shot in 2020 with Maxey, Shae Alexander, and the rest.
Back to the article . Does Cats have a high scoring rebounding center?
Due three of our centers were out due to injuries the answers is no, but Bradshaw is back hopefully once he gets condition back he’ll be our rebounding man.
Again, make all the excuses you want they have to learn defence look at the other teams 3 point shots, and it’s not just one team.
Hopefully the players prove something. The head coach is a proven failure lately.
