The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors put a three-game skid behind them with a 70-59 victory over Fort Campbell on Thursday, with Jason Leek’s 37-point performance leading the way.

Leek got started with a pair of three-pointers to post ten first-quarter points.  After Maurice Moore scored down low to give the Falcons an 11-9 lead, Leek scored the final five points of the quarter for a three-point Warrior advantage.

Moore chipped in seven more points in the second, including a three-point play to tie the game at 24-24 and a bucket in the lane for a narrow Fort Campbell lead.  Leek was limited to only four points in the frame, but his basket on a drive with three seconds left knotted the game at the halftime break.

HCA freshman Layton Giltner had a quiet first half, but bounced back with 11 points in the third.  His three-point play early in the quarter gave the Warriors a five-point cushion and he went 7/7 from the free throw line.  Camden Higgins drilled a three to stretch the advantage to nine points, and Leak connected on a pair of free throws to send HCA to the fourth quarter with a 47-38 lead.

The Falcons opened with a Dason Tate three-pointer and two free throws from Moore, but Leak closed the show with 17 points in the fourth.  Fort Campbell pulled to within three at 59-56 after Eric Greene hit two free throws, but Leek was nine of ten from the charity stripe in the final minute, including a four-point trip after a Fort Campbell technical to put the game away.

The Warriors won the battle on the boards 29-28, led by 14 from Giltner.  He added 16 points to finish with a double-double, and Higgins also reached double figures with 11 points.

Moore led four Falcons in double figures with 16.  Greene scored 13, including seven in the fourth, Lashaad Smiley finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, and Tate had ten points.

HCA will look to make it two wins in a row when Christian Fellowship visits on Friday.  The Warriors won last season’s meeting 73-57.

The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Cloverport.
