Lady Tiger Wrestlers Take 2nd in First-Ever Tournament

The Caldwell County Lady Tiger wrestling team claimed a runner-up showing in its first-ever tournament.

The Lady Tigers placed second behind only Fort Campbell out of 19 teams Saturday in the Marion Wildcats Girls Invitational in Marion, Ill.

T.J. Goodwin claimed an individual championship at 110 pounds to lead the Caldwell charge. Goodwin won all three of her matches by pin in less than a minute.

Caldwell’s Alyvia Barnwell went 2-1 to place third at 120, winning the third-place match by pin.

Virginia Stewart was also third at 235.

Three Lady Tigers had fourth-place finishes.

Rylie Bruce was fourth at 130, going 1-2 on the day. Cali Traylor was fourth at 155. Emma Ward was 1-2 while placing fourth at 190.

Others competing for Caldwell were Halli Stewart at 125 and Cammie Cotton at 170 pounds.

Fort Campbell’s girls won the tournament with 100 points. Caldwell County was second with 62 points. Goreville was third with 47 points.

The Lady Tigers will be in action again next Saturday at Rossview High School in Clarksville, Tenn.
