The schedule for next week’s West Kentucky Hoops Classic at the CAB gym in Princeton is now set.
But Caldwell County had some anxious moments last week when one team pulled out late, necessitating some last-minute changes to the lineup.
Torey Hammett, who organizes the annual fundraiser for the Caldwell County basketball programs, was left not just needing to find another team, but to rework the schedule to get the best matchups possible for the two-day event, which features seven games each day….
The 2023 Hoops Classic will be held next Thursday and Friday, Dec. 21-22, at the CAB. This is the 10th year for the event, which has attracted not just some of the top teams from Kentucky, but other states like Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
Hammett said the Hoops Classic draws inspiration from the Lighthouse Classic, which is held each year in Corinth, Miss….
Hammett said Hamilton Heights from Chattanooga will replace Maumelle, Arkansas, which decided not to take part in this year’s West Kentucky Hoops Classic.
For many of the squads coming to Caldwell County, especially the out-of-state teams, the Hoops Classic represents an opportunity for a team bonding trip…
Basketball action gets underway at 11 a.m. each day with the last game typically wrapping up around 10 p.m.
